I was taught by my babysitter to crochet around the age of 7. For all these years it is the one craft I go back to as comfort. It will take my mind off of anything. I have always made things with and without patterns. When using a pattern of courser making my own improvements as well.
I decided to try and write my own patter. I chose a tote because for some reason I am obsessed with them. In reality we are seeing them every where now. "Buy a reusable tote and help save the planet." Which I do believe in. So they have sunk into my subconscious, and here we are.
If you try this pattern let me know of any corrects that need to be made or if you have trouble following it. Remember it is my first try.

Basket Tote
Size : Approximately 11 1/2 " wide and 13" long (not including the handles)
Materials: Sport weight yarn, 12 ozs of Color A (main color) 12 oz of Color B
Crochet hooks sizes F and G
With the F hook and Color A ch 6 and join with a sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 10 sc's in ring, join with sl st in ch-1.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, *work 2 sc's in next sc, rep from * around, join with sl st in ch1. (20 sc's)

2st Handle: Row 1: Starting at end of Row 1 of 1st handle, skip 10 sc's on last row of bag. Join yard and work same as the 1st handle. Sew top edges of handles together.
Edging: Use color A. With right side facing, being at the end of row 1 of 1st handle, work in sc across top edge of beg and around edge of both handles, join with a sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off. Begin at the other end, work in sc across edge of bag and around the outer edge of both handles, join with sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off.
